Q:

Kim, you’re a well-respected motoring writer who has driven hundreds of cars in his career. How do you rate the Fun Cup?

A:

It’s without a doubt the best racing I’ve ever done. I’ve raced for more than 20 years, as well as working in motoring magazines for 15 years, and this is without a doubt the best racing I’ve ever done. The big thing about it is amount of track time. Before I raced with Auto Express and Uniroyal in the Fun Cup I ran my own car for nearly 20 years and you just get in the trailer and take the car there, 8 minutes the race is over and you’re going back again. It’s not like that in the Fun Cup, you get hours in it. Brilliant value.

Q:

The Fun Cup is more than just racing cars, it’s a social event. How does that side of it appeal to you?

A:

I think that’s part of it, that really is, and you’re a part of a team so you have to work together. You’re not all the same ability, you’ve got 2, 3, 4, we’ve had 5 drivers in the car and you all work together as a team, and that’s quite a good thing, which is not what you normally get in amateur motorsport. Normally in amateur motorsport you do all of the preparation yourself, you do all of the towing yourself, the driving, etc. With a team around you it’s more enjoyable, and of course there’s the fun stuff in the tent after it’s all finished and the race is over.

Q:

Would you recommend the Fun Cup to other competitors?

A:

Oh yes. Don’t look at the cars on paper, come and drive one and you will realise what great things they are to drive and how close the racing is.
